What is needle felting?
Needle felting is a fibre art technique where wool is repeatedly stabbed with a barbed needle which entangles the fibres to create felt. In 3D needle felting, this process allows fibres to be sculpted into solid three-dimensional shapes and forms such as animals, figures, or decorative items. In 2D needle felting, wool is applied onto a flat surface like a fabric or felt sheet to create images and designs.
Both types are beginner friendly and fun!
ABOUT CHLOE
My name is Chloe and I’m a textile and fibre artist, here in Saskatoon. I’ve been focusing on 2D felting since 2019, and my favourite subjects to work on are florals and landscapes among pet portraits and ultrasound images. I have a passion for teaching others about this great and relaxing art form! In this workshop we will touch on colour mixing, lighting & shading as well as techniques for creating realistic clouds, sunsets and silhouettes.
